I got a huge box of old school recipe cards -Betty Crocker from my mother in law. So fun, full of so many ideas, so this was my first recipe I tried tonight, my version of course. The kids loved it.
TOASTY CHEESE BAKE
I cooked ground beef with: chopped: carrots, onion, bell pepper, fresh garlic, and a bunch of mustard greens. I only added some seasoning salt and some dry mustard powder- 1 table spoon and that was it.
I toasted 8 slices of wheat bread, layering each layer with the cooked meat mixture with cheese and bread. I cooked it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, till crisp. There was no sauce which was good for the kids lol. My son wanted some mustard on top and my daughter had ketchup on top. My husband will probably want ranch on top. It was quick and easy to make. (PS no one noticed the veggies in the meat mixture, its a great way to hide them in ).
