Are you really ready for Invisalign yourself? The journey, the anticipation, the wait, and the possible disappointment that it might not be the journey you thought it would be. Like when you go in at the end of your second refinement period, sure this time was going to be 'it, and you are finally going be done (You tracked well on the trays so why wouldn't the journey be over?) But then you are to find that although you tracked well on your trays, you still could improve on a couple areas. So calmly you decide to grit your teeth while your teeth are scanned for a third refinement period. You grip the chair as they then sand off your former attachments, the blasting cold air painfully zapping your gums, while the plastic powder goes down your throat and all over your face. (I suggest having a gauze rolled up and have the tech hold it over your gums to block the air, it makes a huge difference in the gum sensitivity issue.) You yet again, decide to take the plunge, once again believing in the process. Dreaming of the day you don't have to worry about rushing to get your trays back in after every meal or taking them out for every snack.
I went in a month later (when my next trays were ready). I calmly sat in the chair and looked over as another box was brought out with my 3rd set of trays. Without looking at the technion I asked in the calmest voice possible 'how many attachments was I getting this time'? When she began counting the page and got to 15, I begin to feel a wave of panic hit me,
I decided to forgo the top 12 attachments and only put on the bottom 4. I only had a couple areas that could improve on my bottom teeth and I thought my top teeth were fine, really... (I was happy mostly with my results) so I did not understand the 12 attachments thing and still don't even though my Ortho tried to explain it.. He was fine with my decision. So, here I am, on my 3rd refinement determined to be Completely done this time at the end of my trays. I'm mostly wearing my bottom trays all the time and the top trays without the attachments, he said I would still have some improvements without the attachments... So ok... Here I go... 74 days to go till the finish line. 2 yrs and 31 days later.
